This winter will be sweet.

According to KSL.com it snowed 1-3" at most ski resorts in Utah (my home state) yesterday.  Mind you that it is only September 25th. I think this is a good sign that we will have a strong winter out west this year.  GET OUT YOUR SKIS, SNOWBOARDS and my favorite SNOWMOBILES.

I have been wrenching on my snowmobile all summer.  It is pretty much ready to go.  I have a 2008 Ski Doo Summit XP.  It is the Everest model but I got it for a great deal.  It only has 730 miles on it so it is virtually new considering the engine is considered broken in after 500 miles. Listed Bellow are all the upgrades and modifications I have done to my sled.

Fist upgrade - C3 Steering post mod. This mod is awesome.  It gives me all kinds of leverage and raises my handle bars to a great position. Highly recommended for taller guys who like to side hill.

Second upgrade - Ski Doo's S-36 front end.  Never have tried this one but all the reviews say it is a must.  I got a good deal on the kit and it gave me the KYB rebuild-able shocks off the X package sled.

Third upgrade - xtreme airvents shock relocation kit.  This upgrades the skid to have the same geometry as the 2010 xp.  In '08 and '09 the center shock was further forward on the skid and shorter than in 2010-2012, subsequently the older sleds rear sagged down quite a bit.  My sled was no exception.  When I hopped on it would sag 4-5" before stopping.  When I jumped off the sled it would not come back up.  Xtreme's kit fixes this problem, but I needed a longer shock. This leads me to upgrade 4.

Fourth upgrade - Fox Float Center shock. I was lucky enough to deal with Tom's snowmobile.  Let me tell you guys.  Tom is the man.  He knows so much about suspension and setting up your sled.  I highly recommend him.  Definitely the kind of guy to bend over backwards to ensure you are happy.

Fifth upgrade - Summit X rear skid shock.  Guess what - with all these upgrades I technically ride an Everest but it is set up better than the X model (because of the fox float).

Winter is just around the corner.  Are you getting ready?
